Just outside the lovely little Languedoc town of Ille-sur-Têt, there’s a unusual rock formation caused by the erosion of the very soft sandstone. They are known as Les Orgues (the organ pipes). I came across it, only because of looking for a place to stop for the night, after a visit to the local Carrefour supermarket for a gas fill and to do some laundry!
Within a couple of km, there was a rock face where you can clearly see the “organ pipes” taking shape, and after last night’s torrential rain I suspect that process could well have been accelerated!
