Carcassonne & Lagrasse

Lagrasse is a small village only a few km from Carcassone, but on a completely different scale. While both are, without doubt, tourist traps, Lagrasse still has a very rural and almost sleepy feel.

Children playing in the river – soon joined by Bobby, who just cannot resist it. But who could blame him – it was 37° !

EditMost of the buildings, the old bridge and the Abbey retain their original medieval appearance.

Carcassonne, on the other hand, is astonishingly big, and while it appears very old is, in fact, largely a reconstruction completed towards the end of the 19th century.

This in no way detracts from the effect. Small winding streets, busy squares crowded with restaurants and imposing buildings.

Catching it at sunset was a bonus.
